1 year later!

One year has already passed since this family first let me into their home and trusted me to capture their sweet, sweet newborn girl. She was an angel for me that day and almost a year later, she had SUCH a fun personality! Smiles galore, funny faces and lots of high fives and a few “no’s”. I love a one year old who knows what she likes and wants and this girl sire did! I think I missed blogging her newborn session last year so for a fun comparison, here’s baby E just fresh and new and then 1 year later. Happy first birthday sweet girl!!!

I first took a picture similar to this in 2009 when our daughter was just under 2. This year I decided to attempt it again, as it’s been a favorite of mine for years. With the help of my amazing husband, both kids were sleepily tucked under the tree and…perfection. I’m sure I have on my mommy goggles, but I pretty much love this! As behind as I am on blogging, I just wanted to take time to share this image and remind you all to create your own memories this holiday season, enjoy every moment of it!

When my clients send me a list of things they would like to incorporate into their session and it includes superhero capes, stomp rockets and books, I get giddy. A fun family doing what they do best, having FUN! My job behind the camera is to capture them as they are and I feel blessed that every year these families entrust their memories to me. …the HAPPIEST kid, ever. Seriously, the cheesy smiles were bountiful!! He knew how to work his audience, 6 adults dancing on the side of the a busy Phoenix road had to a sight to see I have so many great images from this session, can’t wait for mom, dad and loving grandparents to see them all! Robots, cake, red wagon + a cool wall made for great background but honestly, this guy would shine anywhere we put him! For now, just a few of this sweet 1 year old. Happy Birthday little guy and glad you enjoyed every single bite of your delish cake!

PCS. Photographer Child Syndrome. Both kids have it, no doubt. They see my camera out all the time, they are used to me snapping away so when I get it set in my mind to get a great shot, they are less than interested. I can’t blame them, it’s more fun just being a kid! But when my daughter asked for her own special picture time AND requested a picture with her little brother, there was no way I was saying no! We had everything set up for another session that day so she brought out a few “props” picked out an outfit and we took some adorable pictures of her. The big winner of the day? Yeah, THE highly sought after sibling shot. Happy? Check. Near each other? Check. Not looking like they are going to push the other one down? Check! Success!!! And just looking at this one makes me all teary eyed, these guys love each other so much, it’s amazing to be their momma. Sure, they have their moments, but they are both lost when the other one isn’t there. Best buds, for now at least!

I first met this adorable family 8 months ago when they were just beginning the crazy journey of raising twin boys. From the minute I walked in their home, love and joy exuded from the parents, THIS is what I love seeing, and it’s something that can’t be imitated. There’s no denying the excitement of bringing your babies home, and getting to photograph these guys in those early days was pure perfection. See some of our session here. Fast forward 8 months and we have 2 little guys that are on the GO! Fast, fun and so very curious, these guys were up for just about anything and I loved it!

Back in November I shared images from a fun family shoot and now they have graced the cover of a local magazine. It was a different experience to photography family that I’ve known all of my life, they were less receptive to my toddler jokes…maybe it had to do with the age of my cousins, lol! I think after this session I learned there’s a need for adult humour in my repertoire, not just knock-knock jokes about oranges and bananas! It was a fun experience for me to see the results of our Scottsdale portrait session end up in a magazine, thanks P family!

The sweet cheeks on this little guy just BEGGED to be nibbled! I have to admit when I snuggled with him for a minute I contemplated it. Between the cheeks, eyelashes and absolute perfect personality, this little 6 monther made my job even better.

Fresh. Sleepy. Loved. This little guy was 14 days old, and in terms of newborns, he’s on the older side. He gave mom + dad a hard time before our session but by the time I got my hands on him he was putty. Lovely, squishy, bendy putty. He posed like a champ, slept on cue and even got a few sweet kisses by his fun and lively older brother. As a mon, I know that it’s an amazing blessing watching your first child become a “big” brother or sister. It brings out the most amazing feeling of deep love watching that new connection, never to be topped! Welcome to the world baby J, welcome to the world.

I can’t get enough of newborn parts! Ears, lips, and toes, so small and delicate!

This mom is just glowing as she prepares to welcome their daughter to this beautiful world. Just two short years ago they welcomed me into their home to capture the early days of their sons life and he has been the center of their world since. He will soon learn of the newest addition to his family and their love for him will grow. As a mom of 2 I never understood how my heart would make room to love both children but the miracle of it was that not only did I fall in love with my son, my heart grew to love our daughter even more.

A few funny lemons, sprinkles and love make for the perfect maternity session. Can’t wait to meet your little gal!

I first met this gal just under a year ago and to this day still get compliments on her beauty. Her mom and dad are probably the easiest people to work with and it shines through. We tried for a cake smash but this little cutie wasn’t so sure of the sweet stuff, that’s for sure! Despite our best attempts at encouraging, she just wasn’t into it! Either way, she’s gorgeous and I enjoyed figured out what made her smile
